Description
The 'Bankura Lanthan' is believed to have come in to use during the Mughal period and spread throughout Bengal, popularly known as the 'Bankura Lantern'. A craft that was quite labour intensive, the industry was said to have over 10,000 peoploe producing these lanterns at the time. Although traditionally lit using kerosene, now they are completely electric.
